Friday 27 Sept – A solo Focus
Fritz will join Ian Cleworth, Louise Devenish, Paul Tanner, Joey Eng and Gabrielle Lee in a concert of short solo works that explore the breadth of percussion and the artistry and styles of each artist.
Saturday 28 Sept – Point Line Area Time
International percussion innovator Fritz Hauser leads a mass percussion ensemble performing his work ‘Point Line Area Time’. Twenty-plus percussionists will perform this masterwork. A once in a lifetime opportunity for musicians and audience alike.
Artist Bio
Fritz Hauser , * 1953 in Basel / Switzerland develops solo programs for drums and percussion, which he performs worldwide. Compositions for percussion ensembles and soloists, chamber orchestra, choir. Sound installations (including Therme Vals , Architekturmuseum Basel , Castel Burio Italy, Kunsthaus Zug , Fondation van Gogh in Arles, University of Zurich, radio plays, music for films and readings. Cross-disciplinary work with lighting designer Brigitte Dubach, director Barbara Frey, and architect Boa Baumannas well as the choreographers Kinsun Chan, Joachim Schloemer, Heddy Maalem and Anna Huber. In the field of percussion he plays and works with percussion soloists and ensembles all over the world: Kroumata , Steven Schick , Keiko Abe , Synergy Percussion , Michael Askill , Speak Percussion , Bob Becker , Nexus, EnsembleXII , we Spoke . Numerous CDs as a soloist and with various ensembles. Fritz Hauser is the City of Basel’s 2012 Culture Prize Winner and the 1996 Music Prize in Basel-Landschaft. In the summer of 2018, Hauser was composer-in-residence at the 2018 Lucerne Festival.

For more than 40 years, Fritz Hauser has been touring the world. Performing in more than 45 countries, performing solo as well as creating cross-media works with various artists from different fields (theatre, dance, film, visual arts, literature). Workshops and masterclasses at music universities, as well as teaching invidually.
