Taiko from Toes to Tips Challenge yourself to some Full Body percussion for taiko beginners, first-time drummers and returning students.  We will explore how to use our whole body to focus energy into the Taiko in a variety of drum positions through basic rhythms, shouts, body movements and weave them together with group coordination and improvisation.

Artist Bio

Simon Vanyai discovered Taiko while living in Nagano Japan 25 years ago and has passed on his passion for Japanese Festival Drumming to thousands of Australians, and supported the formation of 4 taiko groups across Australia.  Simon is the co-founder, instructor, composer and choreographer of Taiko On ( WA ) – Winner the 2022 Perth Fringe Festival Award for Musical Performances, and Simon was inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2022 for his Leadership and Development of Taiko in Australia.
