Cat Hope (Australia)
Cat Hope is a composer, sound artist, performer, songwriter and noise artist. She is a classically trained flautist, vocalist, bassist and is the artistic director of Decibel new music ensemble. She is a Civitella Ranieri and Churchill Fellow, and her recent opera ‘Speechless’ won an Australian Art Music Award in 2020. Her 2017 monograph CD ‘Ephemeral Rivers’ (Hat[Art]Hut) won the German Record Critics prize that year, when Gramophone magazine called her “one of Australia’s most exciting and individual creative voices”.
Cat is Professor of Music at Monash university in Melbourne, Australia, and has composed and written about numerous pieces for percussion, in particular her use of animated graphic notations.
